Life and priorities have a way of changing on you. I’ve loved my time in the Board of Directors, but it’s time for it to come to an end. I’m formally announcing my intent to step down from my seat on the Board at the end of October.
It’s been a great ride. I got to cap it off with a really fun event in Seattle. Getting to meet you all and spend some time role-playing with a UT crowd I don’t get to see very often was invigorating. It almost convinced my that I shouldn’t step down, but real life and real work just won’t allow me the time and dedication that you all deserve. There are a lot of great people here, but there’s also a lot more that can be done. I’ve learned that in a volunteer organization you shouldn’t hold a slot that somebody with more energy, time, and motivation could potentially fill. I’m looking forward to seeing whoever steps up next and what they have in mind for the organization!
I’ll still be around as a player and as the technology officer. Since the reorganization a few years ago, this is no longer a voting position. 90% of my job there is resetting your passwords, so, with less official UT work, I should be able to get to that faster than ever! I intend to continue supporting Yorick as well. Not being a Board member will actually give me time to finish up the Volume 2 Issue 1 additions and Changeling Beta Slice. No promises about when though. I know better than to make promises about that sort of thing.
Over the next month or so you’ll still see me active as I handle some last bits and bobs my Board and Story work. We’ll be looking for a new Board member, a new Story Officer, and the same other staff roles we’re always looking for. If you were reticent about getting involved with the organization because of a lack of experience, now’s a great time to break through that anxiety and join up. We’ll be training people and new people will be coming in anyway. There will be some bumps in the road but the player base of Underground Theater is a great crowd so they’ll help you along.
So long everybody from President Andrew. Hello from Player Andrew.
