Underground Theater is excited to be running both a Camarilla/Anarch game at 7pm on Saturday night and a Sabbat game at 7pm on Friday night at Con Nooga! These two national event games are going to be incredible, but they aren’t the only thing we’re offering at Con Nooga next weekend!

We are thrilled to announce that Underground Theater has worked with Con Nooga to enable us to offer a full spread of panels and presentations on LARPing and role-playing. As an organization, one of our missions is to offer workshops and programming that will help all of our patrons – players and storytellers alike – grow as a community of friends who game together and empower all of us to learn and enhance our skills as gamers so that we can all have more fun. Con Nooga is our first opportunity to offer this kind of programming, and we hope all of our patrons will try to stop by and benefit from one or more of these panels.

Helming our panels this convention are James Davey, the president of UT; and Ryan Faricelli, the director of communications of UT. We’ll share the location of the panels as soon as we have that information!

Friday

6pm – 7pm Intro to LARPing with Underground Theater – If you’ve ever wanted to try non-contact Live Action Role-Playing in a safe, friendly environment, this workshop is for you. Underground Theater is an international LARP organization that plays Vampire: The Masquerade. Learn about LARPing, Vampire and the organization, as well as have a chance to ask questions and make characters if you’d like to play in Underground Theater’s Friday night Sabbat or Saturday night Camarilla/Anarch vampire LARP games.

Saturday

10am – 11am Building Characters with Class – Great characters are the single most important thing players need to have fun in an RPG. Even the worst storyteller (DM) and worst game can be tolerated if your character is awesome. Learn tips and tricks and gain expert advice on how to make a good character great in any role-playing game. [Panelists: Ryan Faricelli and James Davey]

11am – 12pm It’s How You Play the Game – You can’t win ’em all, and sometimes setbacks in character goals or even the loss of a character are potential outcomes of a role-playing scene. Sometimes a character’s failure is just the beginning of a great new story. This panel addresses the psychology behind our fear of losing in LARPs and RPGs, as well as the potential benefits of accepting loss as a part of a greater narrative.  [Panelist: James Davey]

1pm – 2pm Bleeding Out – In LARP, bleed refers to a weakening of the separation between a player’s and a character’s emotions. For a long time in North American LARPs, “bleed” has been a bad word. This panel approaches bleed as a necessary and even desirable experience for role-players, and offers ideas on how to properly acknowledge and internalize its effects. [Panelist: James Davey]

2pm – 3pm On A Roll: Better RPG Playing – The only way to win a role-playing game is to have fun. Based on the presenter’s book On A Roll: Level Up Your RPG, this panel explores theories, wisdom, tips and advice for players of all experience levels. It’s an exploration of things learned in the author’s 25 years of gaming that can help you have more fun playing your tabletop, LARP or MUSH game. Covering everything from gamer etiquette, character development and problem players, On A Roll is everything you need to have more fun with your game! [Panelist: Ryan Faricelli]

3pm – 4pm On A Roll: Better RPG Storytelling – The only way to win a role-playing game is to have fun. Based on the presenter’s book On A Roll: Level Up Your RPG, this panel explores theories, wisdom, tips and advice for game runners of all experience levels. It’s an exploration of things learned in the author’s 25 years of gaming that can help you have more fun running your tabletop, LARP or MUSH game. Covering everything from gamer etiquette, plot and universe development and community building, On A Roll is everything you need to have more fun with your game! [Panelist: Ryan Faricelli]

4pm – 5pm Save vs. Ego: An RPG Investment Check – Role-playing games are filled with players and storytellers (DMs) who throw themselves so wholly into game that we forget that that is all it is – just a game. This panel examines the way our ego, stubbornness and emotion damages RPGs and RPG organizations and explores how gamers can check their investment and return to just having fun.   [Panelists: Ryan Faricelli and James Davey]

6pm – 7pm  Underground Theater 1 Year Anniversary – Underground Theater is an international LARP organization that plays Vampire: The Masquerade celebrating its first anniversary. Meet the board of directors, hear a year in review report on the state of the organization and get a glimpse at some of the excitement that lies ahead in the coming year.

Con Nooga is coming in just a few weeks (Feb. 27-March 1), and our next national event game will be held there (Sabbat Friday, Cam/Anarch Saturday – both at 7pm). For those of you coming, here’s the official in-character invitations for the Cam/Anarch and the Sabbat game!

———-IN CHARACTER ANNOUNCEMENT TO CAMARILLA AND ANARCH KINDRED———

SalonInvite

The honorable Justicar Madame Guil of the Ivory Tower cordially invites the Kindred of the Camarilla to join her in the great City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, for a great Salon. The Justicar’s Salon shall be hosted at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo, within the Chattanooga Free State, an anarch domain overseen by Baron Noah Ross within the Camarilla city of Chattanooga under Prince Giuseppi Antonio Borgia Di Giangaleazzo.

There shall be, in parallel to the kine of the area, games and prizes, allowing us as a polite society the chance to connect as we used to in times past. This formal event will feature music and a game of skill and chance.

Justicar Guil expects all in attendance to follow any special edicts or concessions those in charge of these domains express, as well as the rules of formal Elysium, as this will be such, in accordance to our traditions. It should also be noted this gathering will be occurring amidst a mortal convention of eclectic interests known as the Con Nooga, and any precautions to uphold the Masquerade as we progress amongst this spectacle should be taken.

The Salon shall occur at 7:00 p.m. on the eve of Saturday, the 28th of February, 2015.

Archon Justin DuMont
on behalf of her grace,
Madame Guil, Justicar of the Ivory Tower

———-IN CHARACTER ANNOUNCEMENT TO SABBAT KINDRED———

unnamed
Our sect is great because of what we are willing to pay for its greatness.

My brethren, join me during the last weekend of February in the city of Chattanooga, to celebrate the sacred High Holiday that remembers and celebrates the sacrifices that we as a sect have made for freedom.

Come and Revel. Listen and tell the tales of those we have lost, that their memory and sacrifice may inspire us all in the coming year. Sit and share remembrances, and anecdotes, stories and memories as well as the company of those still marching forward.

And when we have filled ourselves with these tales…

We hunt.

Joseph Pander
